English Brothers is
involved in two projects at the Cunningham Children's home, located in
Urbana, IL. The projects are the Spiritual Life Center and the Residential
Treatment Center.
The
Spiritual Life Center will be the gathering place for all those connected
to the ministry of Cunningham Children's Home. It will give the children,
staff, Cunningham alumni, members of the Boards of Directors and friends
of Cunningham the opportunity to participate in a faith community within
the community of Cunningham Children's Home. (Learn more about this
project on the Cunningham Children's Home website at
www.cunninghamhome.org).
The
Residential Treatment Center will allow Cunningham Children's home to
better meet the needs of youth who need more intensive services. The
residential portion of the building includes three self-contained housing
units. Each residential cottage wing will provide living quarters for up
to 10 children. Each child will have his or her own room. Each unit will
also contain a living room, dining/activity room, staff office space, an
observation room and two seclusion rooms. Ample storage space is planned
for each unit. Entry to the building is provided through a centralized
commons area that also includes a multi-purpose room for dining and group
functions, kitchen, staff breaks, laundry and building maintenance
facilities.
